INTRODUCING ST PATRICK'S JUNIOR RUGBY CLUB!
Helping Junior Rugby Players reach their Potential.
WHY PLAY WITH US
The goal of St Patrick’s Junior Rugby Club is to help each player develop their rugby skills within a community environment thus enabling them to reach their potential.
How do we do this?
Each player that joins our club will have a different combination of:
Athletic Attributes – Height, Size, Fitness, Agility, Speed
Co-ordination
Ability to handle pressure (that special gift of always seeming to have time)
Our job is to take these raw attributes and teach your child the rules, skills, strategies and teamwork of rugby.
We are passionate rugby people because the game has a position for all shapes and sizes. Based on these attributes for your child, our coaching team will identify a number of different positions that will suit your child. Our philosophy is that to develop your child’s rugby skills they need to experience several positions across a season. We won’t rotate the position that your child plays each week as skills development works best when you have a few weeks of a “train, play, review” cycle. We aim to cycle children through 3 positions each season.
In our older teams (Under 10+) where a captain is required, we make sure that this leadership position is cycled through 3 or 4 players who show leadership potential. Leadership is an important part of any team sport and we are focused on ensuring that our players are exposed to and develop this skill from a young age.
WHEN DO WE PLAY?
Our season proper runs from April to September. We commence pre-season training in February.
Our Under 6s to Under 9s play on Saturday morning at St Luke's Oval Concord. The Under 6s games kick off at 8:30am and the Under 9s are finished by 11:25am.
